Nissan Juke pricing announced (UK)

Nissan has revealed the prices for its controversial Juke crossover, with the entry-level Visia 1.6 petrol costing from £12,795. All Jukes are linked to a 5 speed manual, 6 speed for 1.5 dCi & 1.6 DiG-T, which also receives a 6 speed CVT transmission.

Three engines will be available - along with the 115bhp 1.6, there's a 109bhp 1.5 diesel and an all-new direct-injection turbocharged 1.6 petrol engine that produces 187bhp and starts at £15,695 for the 2WD model. The range-topping engine is also available in 4WD, mated to a continuously variable transmission gearbox (CVT) which costs £19,995.

The entry-level 115bhp 1.6 litre petrol engine with manual transmission emits 149g/km and has a combined fuel economy of 44.1mpg/6.4l/100km. Top speed is 111mph. With a CVT gearbox, CO2 emissions decrease from 149g/km to 145g/km and top speed from 111mph to 106mph. Combined fuel economy increases to 44.8mpg/6.3/100km.

The 1.5 dCi engine has 86bhp and a combined fuel economy of 55.4mpg/5.1l/100km. This engine kicks out 134g/km with a top speed of 109mph.

Flagship 1.6 DiG-T 187bhp petrol engine with a manual gearbox has CO2 emissions of 149g/km with a combined fuel economy rating of 40.9mpg/6.9l/100km. Top speed is rated at 134mph. With the CVT gearbox and 4WD, the CO2 figure rises to 175g/km with a combined figure of 37.2mpg/7.6l/100km. The top speed is 124mph.

Three trim-levels are available; Visia gets 16” alloy wheels, ESP, 6 airbags, sports seats, particle filter (diesel only), active front headrests, immobiliser, 4 speakers w/ MP3 aux, 60/40 split folding rear seats, height adjustable driver’s seat, tilt adjustable steering wheel, front electric windows w/ one touch (drivers side only), electrically adjustable/heated door mirrors, air conditioning, remote central locking and speed sensitive power steering.

Mid-spec Acenta models get 17” alloys, climate control, ultrasonic alarm, body-coloured door handles w/ chrome interior handles, rear electric windows, leather steering wheel & gearknob w/ audio controls, Bluetooth with USB connectivity, cruise control, front fog lamps and the Nissan Dynamic Control System.

Two option packs are available with Acenta versions. A £300 Sport pack upgrades to 17” Sport alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and premium seat fabric. A £900 Premium pack gets Nissan Connect satellite navigation, reversing camera and 6 speakers, as well as the extras that come with the Sports pack.

Range-topping Tekna models get leather upholstery w/ heated front seats, electric folding door mirrors, Nissan Connect, reversing camera, rain-sensing wipers, and intelligent key with engine start button.

Orders books open for the Juke next month, with the first deliveries expected towards the end of September.

Underneath, the Juke uses a widened, lengthened version of the Renault Nissan Alliance B platform, also used in the Clio and Micra; it’s 2530mm wheelbase is 10cm longer, and the platform's extra width means it can accommodate wider tracks.

Suspension remains a MacPherson strut front and torsion beam rear for the two-wheel drive versions, but unusually Nissan has decided to fit the four-wheel drive models with a new multi-link suspension at the rear. This should give the Juke handling to rival the class leaders'.

The Juke will be built at Nissan’s Sunderland plant and will replace the Nissan Micra on the production line.

Carbon Motors claims 14,000 reservations for E7 police car [Video]

Carbon Motors will put its E7 Police Car into production in 2012 and the brave men and women of the law enforcement, City Mayors, Managers and Council Members, the State Controllers and even the Federal Government are starting to recognize the benefits of this diesel police interceptor that will carry a BMW diesel engine.

In its latest newsletter update, Carbon Motors has revealed that it's received over 14,000 reservations from over 400 police agencies for its new purpose built E7 police car. However, it's best to bear in mind those are just reservations for slots in the production schedule. As of yet, no one has placed a firm order for the E7 because Carbon hasn't even announced pricing. While the concept of a vehicle built specifically to meet the needs of police forces certainly sounds good on paper, the E7 will undoubtedly be expensive.

The Carbon Motors E7 will be powered by a diesel engine from BMW. The twin-turbocharged diesel unit, which is also used in the BMW X5 xDrive35d and the BMW 335d, will produce 265 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque. So far Carbon Motors has ordered 240,000 of these engines from BMW.

Press Release:

Carbon Motors: A Catalyst for Change

New Entrants into Market Raise the Question, "What's the Difference?"

It has long been assumed that law enforcement professionals – police, sheriff's deputies, state patrol, etc. – operate real "police cars", yet there has never been any proof backed up with logic to show why this statement might be true (or in this case false) in the first place. It is a myth. Law enforcement organizations have never been offered a purpose-built solution because one never existed anywhere in the world until Carbon Motors came along with world's first and only purpose-built law enforcement patrol vehicle.

With the help of over 3,500 US law enforcement professionals from all 50 States representing the local, state and federal levels, Carbon Motors wrote the groundbreaking specifications for such a vehicle. Based on this comprehensive list, it became evident that modifying a retail passenger car would not suffice – from interior space requirements, to vehicle performance, to the use of advanced homeland security technologies, to the long-term durability based on law enforcement usage patterns, to the fuel efficiency, to the required safety attributes and the list goes on and on and on. Carbon Motors decided to develop an all-new, ground-up homeland security platform for the United States of America "Designed by Law Enforcement, Exclusively for Law Enforcement."

What Really is "Purpose-Built"?

Purpose-built quite simply means, "exclusively built for a particular purpose" – a superior product built from the ground-up with one sole mission, dedicated and committed to one set of professional users. Our country builds purpose-built vehicles to put out fires, go into battle, clean our streets, collect our trash and deliver our mail. Why not a purpose-built vehicle, then, for patrolling our roadways, protecting our communities, and securing our homeland?

The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the MRAP All-Terrain Armored Vehicle, an emergency fire truck, a SWAT armored rescue vehicle, and the Carbon 'E7' – these are purpose-built vehicles on a very serious, clear and singular mission. The Carbon E7 is in fact so serious, that it will have a positive and material effect on at least six of President Obama's cabinet-level departments including the Departments of Labor, Energy, Homeland Security, Justice, Transportation, and Treasury. From creating thousands of new American jobs of national importance, to reducing our dependence on foreign oil, to better securing our homeland, and even reducing taxpayer burden regarding the approximately $100 billion the United States of America will spend on law enforcement vehicle operations over the next decade.

Demand is Unquestionable – 14,000 Reservations Says So!

Clearly, the brave women and men of law enforcement, the City Mayors, Managers and Council Members, the State Controllers and even the Federal Government all recognize the benefits of a purpose-built vehicle. And they have all backed it up in writing. Carbon Motors has surpassed 14,000 production slot reservations for the Carbon E7. These reservations were made by over 400 law enforcement agencies in 48 US States, representing each functional area of law enforcement. At this rate, Carbon Motors fully expects to have production sold out well in advance of the first vehicle rolling out of the Carbon Campus in Connersville, Indiana.

51st stop on Pure Justice Tour Features Ride-and-Drive

Carbon Motors Corporation was invited to participate in the Advanced Automotive Technology Symposium in Sacramento, California last week. The purpose of the event was to highlight some of the emerging technologies in the automotive powertrain space. Other participants included Bosch, BMW, Daimler, Mazda, Mitsubishi, and Volkswagen. Advanced clean diesel technology was not only featured as a prominent provider of both reduced fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions, but as a long-term, durable solution to reducing our dependence on foreign oil.

Carbon Motors set out to provide an optimum balance of performance and fuel economy in the E7 law enforcement patrol vehicle with the selection of its advanced clean diesel engines by BMW. Symposium guests were invited to experience that performance first-hand after looking over Carbon's E7 – the thrill of having 80% of the engine's torque available between 1100 rpm to 4200 rpm!

Law enforcement professionals spent extraordinary lengths of time gazing at the E7 and learning of its unique features and functionalities. They were then escorted over to participate in a very special ride-and-drive in vehicles with this type of advanced powertrain. It was fun to see the looks on the faces of both law enforcement officers and fleet administrators as they were pinned to the backs of their seats. One of the California Congressional Delegates was even spotted kneeling down to smell the exhaust because she couldn't believe how clean this advanced technology actually is!

All of those who participated agreed that Carbon's E7, coupled with the BMW advanced diesel engine, is the one and only breakthrough product for our brave women and men in uniform that put their lives on the line for us, every single day!

Press Release

TOPCAR Porsche Panamera Stingray, which made its debut at the renowned supercars fair Top Marques Monaco 2010 in April, has been in great demand at present. To maintain the highest workmanship standards and excellent quality of the products all our car performance packages are worked out to the last detail.

Being aimed to a perfect result TOPCAR specialists help the customers in searching that unique but recognizable and inimitable appearance of their cars trying to incarnate a vision in a car and to create the most entire reflection of the personality of the car owner.

To prove the fact the Porsche Panamera appearance by TOPCAR will be available in three editions. Three distinct cars have got three distinct natures.

Black Matt Edition

The car obtains menacing appearance. Even at first glance you can't give up the idea that its matte finish and the invasive lines have adopted an uncanny resemblance to invisible fighter jet. A lower clearance and matte finish make possible to achieve the analogy.

To highlight the main shape-generating lines some elements are painted gloss black: the front lip spoiler, front bumper inserts, ventilation ‘gills' on the bonnet, front fender scoops, side skirts, window trims, both rear wings, the tailgate trim and rear bumper diffuser. Tanned rear lights and black housing headlights give the concluding chord of the strong shape. To make the inner world sing in harmony TOPCAR offers the masterly hand crafted leather interior of the ideal quality.

White Edition

The newborn Panamera has obtained astonishing lines full of grace and dignity for its new appearance. The leading principle of this car is to sing along to its wealthy and self-satisfied sole owner. The car remains distinctive at any time of day or night and in any weather conditions. To emphasize the white gloriole some car trim parts were painted black.

TOPCAR also recommends a set of specially designed and produced black multi-part rims (R21) with the white lip. The white leather interior allied to the exciting design make the ‘Panamera in White' truly unforgettable.

Carbon Grey Edition

It is a fascinating driving machine and the sporty pinnacle of the TOPCAR brand.

The car embodied some player personality traits: gorgeous looks, fearsome performance, racing success and (relative) civility on the road. The car itself painted Carbon Grey and its new dressing mostly made of Visible Carbon Fiber: the front lip spoiler, front bumper inserts, the bonnet, front fender scoops, side skirts, window trims, both rear wings, the tailgate trim and rear bumper diffuser.

The interior is embellished with Visible Carbon Fiber interior parts: the steering wheel trim and paddle, dash and center console trims, door trims etc.

The matched Nappa leather interior decorated with fancy stitches and welt cords combines comfort and style, with incredible practicality.

2010 New Lotus Sports Cars Exige S240

British performance sports car manufacturer Lotus has officially unveiled their 2010 Lotus Exige S240.  While Lotus fans will recognize this as a very subtle update, the grille and rear wing facelift is a step forward for the mark. The exciting new 2010 Lotus Exige S240 enters the United States and Canadian markets in the fall of 2009 with new front styling, a new rear wing and the same rare combination of exceptional performance and high efficiency.
2010 New Lotus Sports Cars Exige S240
The Lotus Exige S240 features a roof integrated air intake scoop feeds air through the air-to-air intercooled and supercharged 1.8 liter Lotus-tuned and Toyota-sourced 2ZZ-GE engine with Intelligent Variable Valve Timing (VVT-i) to provide 240hp at 8,000 rpm and 170 ft.-lbs. of torque at 5,500.
The 2010 Lotus Exige S240 sprints to 60 mph in a blistering 4.1 seconds and the 100 mph barrier sails by in approximately 10 seconds with top speed is 150 mph. The Lotus Exige S240 is equipped with a 6-speed transaxle synchromesh transmission, traction control and launch control. New for 2010, the optional Track Package will include adjustable Ohlins dampers with threaded spring perches and remote oil reservoirs front and rear.
The Lotus Exige is a renowned high performance coupe that has a well earned reputation as the choice for drivers who demand uncompromised performance, both on the road and on the track. The 2010 Exige S240 introduces a few key enhancements to update the appearance and improve aerodynamic performance. A restyled front end and new larger, low drag rear wing, not only reduces drag, but also gives a more muscular stance enhancing the lightweight shrink-wrapped look of the whole car.
Passing along lessons learned on the track with the Exige GT3 racing program, Lotus Sport Cars has contributed another important technology – variable launch control combined with variable traction control. The launch control allows the driver to determine the number of revs they wish to use during a standing start. Having programmed that limit, the driver then holds their foot down fully on the throttle pedal and sidesteps the clutch pedal for a very quick departure from the line. The clutch damper cushions the severity of the clutch to transmission engagement to minimize the stresses to the drivetrain. The launch control also keeps wheel-spin at bay until 6 mph, after which the traction control assumes its duties.
Like all Lotus cars, the functional components of the car are also beautifully designed as Russell Carr, Chief of Lotus Design, explains, "For 2010 we have taken the already visually extreme Exige and given it even more visual drama. The changes we have integrated to the front and rear of the Exige signal an even clearer and purposeful intent. The functional rear wing is race-inspired, the new angular air intakes and full width splitter give a more hard-edged and aggressive look. Overall, the Exige appears more planted and gives the illusion that both the front and rear of the car are wider than they really are, yet without losing its agile and sleek character."
The new 2010 Lotus Exige S240 is scheduled to launch in the US and Canada in the Fall of 2009. This new 2010 Lotus Exige S240 goes on sale this fall with a starting price of $65,690 and will be available in an upgraded track package with added performance benefits. The 2010 Lotus Exige S240 will hit U.S. and Canadian markets this Autumn.
